THE CRITICAL IMPORTANCE OF NUTRITION FOR PERFORMANCE

​- Sports nutrition enhances athletic performance by decreasing both fatigue and the risk of disease and injury.

- Enables athletes to optimise training and recover faster.

- Exercise performance is impaired when an individual is dehydrated by as little as 2% of body weight. Losses in excess of 5% of body weight can decrease the capacity for work by approximately 30%.

Sports nutrition is the foundation of performance and success. When nutrition is optimised for an athlete their is a substantial improvement in performance, recovery and stamina. When nutrition is neglected, performance is suboptimal as well as increased susceptibility to injury and poor recovery from training sessions and games.

Optimally fueling the body will lead to:

1. Optimal performance – speed, strength, power and stamina will be at its optimal.

2. Improved academic performance, mood, and decision-making.

3. Better focus and concentration.

4. Postponed fatigue and enhanced energy levels during exercise and all day long.

We will together analyse your current dietary and hydration intake using a comprehensive dietary analysis software in conjunction with your exercise schedule. With this data, I will provide a evidence based sport specific nutrition plan to optimise your performance.

Together we will review your initial sport specific nutrition plan and as well as assess your progress. I want to specifically know how your performance is developing and then my role is to continue to make dietary and hydration manipulations to ensure that we are progressing to your peak performance.
